Current TrustyFiles Blocklist File - Blocklist.dat

  • Blocklist.zip. This file is compressed for faster download. You must unzip it to extract and use Blocklist.dat.

Format and Location

The TrustyFiles Blocklist is stored at c:\Progam Files\TrustyFiles\Data\Blocklist.dat (or the appropriate directory if you changed the Program directory). The file uses a standard colon delimiter list format, similar to that used by Morpheus and Gnucleus. Here's an example entry line:

209.204.130.0-209.204.130.255:www.company.com:

General Blocklist Updating

Blocklists may not be totally accurate, current, or available. You may need to try multiple web sites or sources. Various lists and sources can found using the web links in the gray column to the right.

You should update your Blocklist regularly. For updates from TrustyFiles, compare current and previous update dates on our software user home page. For updates from other sources, use and check the date of the download file.

Any changes you've made to your current blocklist WILL BE LOST upon update You should manually record any changes so you can re-enter them after update.

Update your Blocklist - From TrustyFiles

TrustyFiles will occasionally publish blocklist updates. However you may want to use more current lists from other sources that update more frequently.

  1. Check the TrustyFiles Software home page for the current blocklist date. Continue to Step 2 if the update is recent and you don't have it.
  2. Shut down TrustyFiles.
  3. Save the Current TrustyFiles Blocklist to your computer at c:\TrustyFiles\Data.
  4. The file name is Blocklist.zip. Unzip the file to retrieve Blocklist.dat and overwrite the existing file. TrustyFiles will use the new file on start-up.

Update your Blocklist - Other sources

TrustyFiles recommends the PeerGuardian plain text list, which generally is the most up-to-date and well supported blocklist. The Bluetack web site contains both links to various blocklists and a web-based converter that converts a list from one format, such as PeerGuardian, to the TrustyFiles format.

The following example assumes you're using the Peer Guardian blocklist.

  1. Obtain a current blocklist from the Bluetack web site.
  2. Copy the full blocklist.
  3. At Bluetack go to Blocklist Converter > Main Page.
  4. Paste the blocklist data into the Source blocklist box. Select the options as appropriate. For 'Convert To Format", use TrustyFiles, or Morpheus blacklist is there is no TrustyFiles entry.
  5. Click the Convert button. The blocklist in the proper format will display in the Output window. Copy all the text in the Output window.
  6. Create/edit a text file at c:\TrustyFiles\Data\Blocklist-import.txt. We recommend using a temporary file like this so you can check the date of your blocklist. Delete any current data. Paste the text from the blocklist Output window. Save the file.
  7. Shut down TrustyFiles.
  8. In the c:\TrustyFiles\Data directory copy Blocklist-import.txt to Blocklist.dat. TrustyFiles will use the updated file on start-up.
Update your Blocklist - Morpheus blacklist or Gnucleus GnuBlocked.net files list

The TrustyFiles format is directly compatible with the Morpheus blacklist or Gnucleus GnuBlocked.net files list.

  1. Obtain a current blocklist. Try the Morpheus or Gnucleus list linked to at Bluetack.
  2. Save the file in text format to c:\TrustyFiles\Data\Blocklist-import.txt. We recommend using a temporary file like this so you can check the date of your blocklist.
  3. Shut down TrustyFiles.
  4. In the c:\TrustyFiles\Data directory copy Blocklist-import.txt to Blocklist.dat. TrustyFiles will use the updated file on start-up.
