Overview

Private File Sharing Features

When your primary use is set to Private File Sharing, you won't automatically be connected to the P2P network. So other P2P users can't run searches to find and download your files.

But you still can Send a File to share files with friends via email.

You can explicitly run a search or manually connect. When you do, TrustyFiles will ask you to confirm such requests. Be aware that during those times when you are connected, it is possible for other P2P network users to search your shared files, and then to try to download these files at that time and in the future.

Set up TrustyFiles

1. Set Primary Use in Options to Private Sharing

2. Share additional files (optional).

Running TrustyFiles

1. Download files from friends in 1 click.
When a friend sends you a file or search, you'll receive an email with a P2P Link. Just click it!

Your TrustyFiles automatically starts up if it's not running. TrustyFiles makes a direct connection to your friend's computer to try to download the file. Since your friend is in Private File Sharing mode, P2P network users won't be able to find the file on his PC. Only you can access the file since you have the P2P Link.

2. Share files with friends.
TrustyFiles can share a file in 2 simple steps.

Share a file
1. From search results, downloads, or My Files click any file in TrustyFiles. Then click Send at the bottom of the page,
2. A web page displays with the file information. Enter your and your friend's email addresses and click Send. An email with a P2P file link is sent to your friend.

When you send a P2P Link, the link includes your computer's Internet (IP) address. If you have a dynamic Internet address and go offline, your Internet address may change and you'll need to resend the Link. See Advanced Network Settings for more information.
